Recap: 2025 Online Chesapeake Writing Day Conference

Another day, another writing conference!

I feel blessed that I was able to attend the 2025 online Chesapeake Writer’s Day Workshop event both August 15th and August 16th. Similar to the last event in Charlotte, I listened in on topics such as craft classes in Science Fiction and Fantasy, Query/Synopsis craft classes, as well as what the industry looks like today with the use of AI, hybrid, self, and traditional publishing.

However, this time I went out of my comfort zone: I sat through three virtual pitches! For those who don’t know, this is where you have X amount of minutes to pitch your story to an agent so they can decide if they want to see more of your work before agreeing to represent you.

I like to say I am pretty introverted, so putting myself out there in a situation where rejection is more common than not is extremely nerve-wracking. All that aside, ALL THREE REQUESTED PARTIAL OR MY FULL MANUSCRIPT!

I am a pretty humble person when it comes to my writing, so I am still in complete disbelief. I am praying this is a positive step, and that one of the wonderful agents I met yesterday feels the same about The Lost Huntress of Lidith!

XOXO,

I.L. Nicole
