Editing Trenches

We hear about query trenches, but has anyone truly spoke about the editing trenches?

I haven’t had too much of an update about my writing journey for my debut novel, The Lost Huntress of Lidith, and that is for a very specific reason. Editing is SLOW. Especially round four of edits, where I am really honing in on the developmental details. I will say, without the help of a professional editor, I wouldn’t be able to get this story where it should be.

What am I doing differently during this round?

  • Focusing on specific plot points. I work through each page/chapter until this has been completed.

    • Example: Character A and Character B need a more immediate connection from the start of the story.

  • Saving more of the line/copyediting for the end

  • Walking away from my screen when I feel the creative juices draining.

My goal still remains to have my novels out to agents by this summer. Follow along on my socials/blog to get any updates!
